Burano's Lacemaking

Burano’s lace is one of the most renowned in the world, with its centuries of tradition and is local to the island of Burano, in the Venice Lagoon. Since the XV Century, Burano’s original lace is made entirely by hand, using a needle and an extremely fine cotton thread and its peculiar characteristic is needing seven different lacemakers to complete one piece; this is due to the difficulty of the work, as each lamaker specialises in just one specific “stitch”. Included, is the visit to a shop where the story of lace manufacture will be explained. It will be possible to purchase typical products like table cloths, linen, soft furnishings etc. (duration between 15 and 30 minutes)
