Pistoia “Underground City``

This is the longest underground passage in Tuscany! The path unfolds for 650 metres along the old stream of the river Brana which, following a 12^th century diversion, was replaced by an artificial duct. Here, at the end of the 11^th Century, the first part of the current Ospedale del Ceppo was built. The guided tour includes the underground visit, the Anatomy Theatre and the Medical Academy with the Surgical Instruments Museum of the Ospedale del Ceppo. The average temperature in the underground tunnel is 20 degrees.
